First Words of the Resurrected Christ | A Word of Peace | Luke 24:36-49
00;00;00;00 - 00;00;31;03
Unknown
Let me begin this time with the Word of God. Heavenly. With a prayer. Excuse me, Heavenly Father, I thank you so much for every mom in this room and every mom who is watching livestream. I thank you for every mom who has stepped into eternity already. And Heavenly Father, I pray in the name of Jesus that you would bless these moms.
00;00;31;05 - 00;01;00;05

I pray that you would meet every physical, spiritual, and emotional need that they have in their lives according to your riches and glory in Christ Jesus. And Lord, I pray today that you would be with those in our church family going through difficult moments. I pray for the healing of Glen Whitworth and John Weaver and Frank Rocky. I pray that you would comfort Mitzi to forgive in the death of her husband.
00;01;00;08 - 00;01;34;22
Unknown
And I ask you right now, Lord, that you would fill me with the Holy Spirit and you would anoint me to preach what you've laid on my heart today. In Jesus name. Amen. All right. Today I'm going to speak to you on this subject. A word of peace. The language of peace is spoken so frequently in our culture today that we often just gloss over that word.
00;01;34;24 - 00;02;13;07
Unknown
We hear. We're told to make peace with our past. We're told that we should expect the police to keep the peace. We're told that at the graveside, we're to say, rest in peace to a loved one who has stepped into eternity. We hear about peace treaties. We see protesters flash the peace sign. And there's not a mom in this room, probably, who would not say, especially these young moms who would not say, I need some peace and quiet.
00;02;13;09 - 00;02;54;10
Unknown
Amen. Do I hear Amen from the moms? All right. Unfortunately, there is a tremendous lack of peace in our world. Wars and rumors of wars dominate the news cycles. There's a lack of peace in our nation. Political and racial tensions constantly boil beneath the surface. Furthermore, there's a lack of peace in our homes. Families are fragmented and dominated by love for the things of this world.
00;02;54;13 - 00;03;27;25
Unknown
And there's a lot of hurt in our families. Is there any hope? Before Jesus was arrested and crucified. He gathered his anxious disciples in the upper room, and he gave them last minute instructions and encouragement. And he included a phenomenal promise. This is a promise for every mom, every dad, every born again believer within the sound of my voice.
00;03;27;27 - 00;04;00;25
Unknown
Jesus promised them, peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you, not as the world gives nor I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. The peace that Jesus provides is not necessarily the absence of pain. Our problems are pressure. Here's the peace that Jesus provides. Nobody else in this world can give this to you.
00;04;00;27 - 00;04;49;03
Unknown
There's not a tranquilizer in this world that can provide what I'm about to share with you today. Here. Here's the definition of peace that I want you to to listen to and to learn today. You see this kind of peace that Jesus offers is a sense of completeness and fulfillment in a believer's life. It produces a strong sense of confidence that Jesus knows what he's doing, and he's totally competent to make sure that his will is accomplished in our individual lives, in our world, in our nation, and in our families.
00;04;49;06 - 00;05;21;08
Unknown
So here here's a fundamental truth that I want you to remember. Jesus is the ultimate peacemaker. He's the ultimate peacemaker. Our focus for the last several weeks has been first words of the resurrected Christ. We've already examined our Lord's first words to Mary Magdalene when she went to the tomb early on that first Easter morning, a Sunday morning.
00;05;21;11 - 00;05;50;25
Unknown
And she hung out there until Jesus appeared to her. And and Jesus gave her a word of hope. And then last week, we looked at two, depressed disciples who had left Jerusalem, and they were headed to Emmaus, their home. And Jesus met them, and he gave them a word of truth. Now, I want you to find Luke 24, in your Bible.
00;05;50;25 - 00;05;57;18

Luke chapter 24.
00;05;57;20 - 00;06;43;04
Unknown
This thrilling chapter chapter opens with several godly women arriving at the Lord's tomb early on that first Easter morning, and they discovered that the large stone that had been rolled against the mouth of the tomb had been rolled away, and they met two angels who announced to them that Jesus is alive. And these two angels even reminded them of what Jesus had told them earlier about his own death, burial, and resurrection, and the Bible says right here in the first part of the chapter that these women remembered what Jesus had said.
00;06;43;06 - 00;07;29;19
Unknown
And then the story shifts to these two demoralized disciples that I mentioned earlier. They were walking toward a mass. They were discussing all the things that had happened to Jesus, and they were unaware when Christ, the resurrected Christ, joined them in their journey. And Jesus asked them some very pointed questions, and Jesus explained to them how the Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled in him, how his atoning death on the cross and his resurrection was a part of God's sovereign plan to save the human race.
00;07;29;21 - 00;07;59;05
Unknown
Now Clay opus and his friend invited the stranger into their home, and they were serving him a meal. And when it was time to eat the meal, this stranger became the host of the meal. And he took bread, and he broke it. And when he broke the bread, the Bible says, then immediately these two disciples recognized that it was Jesus, the resurrected Christ, that had been with him.
00;07;59;05 - 00;08;33;03
Unknown
The holder. And Jesus immediately vanished. And then these guys. They they the Bible says in verse 33 to 35, they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem and found gathered together the 11 and those who were with them, saying, the Lord has really risen, and has appeared to Simon and Simon Peter. They began to relate their experiences on the road, and how he was recognized by them in the breaking of bread.
00;08;33;05 - 00;09;02;14
Unknown
Can you imagine these two guys? I bet you their feet barely touched the ground. They couldn't wait to get back to Jerusalem to get in the presence of the rest of the apostles and disciples, and to tell them that they had seen the resurrected Christ. Well, I tell you, when they walked in that room, there was a buzz in the air.
00;09;02;17 - 00;09;35;12
Unknown
But immediately as they began to share their experience, one of the disciples said, hey, Jesus has already appeared to Simon Peter. And I tell you, it was amazing moment in that upper room as they talked about the resurrected Christ. Now, I want you to keep in mind that they had missed the obvious. Jesus had told them numerous times exactly what was going to happen when he got to Jerusalem.
00;09;35;14 - 00;10;06;06
Unknown
He told them that he would be arrested. He told them that the chief priests, the Pharisees and scribes, would reject him. He told them that he would be brutally tortured, and he told them that he would be crucified, and then he would be buried. And he even told them, listen. He even told them that he would be resurrected from the dead.
00;10;06;08 - 00;10;43;05
Unknown
We find that in Luke chapter nine the Bible says, The Son of Man must suffer many things. This is Jesus telling the disciples, The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up. On the third day. But these disciples not only had missed the obvious truth about what Jesus had told them, but when Jesus was arrested, they abandoned him, and he was alone at a time when he needed them in the worst way.
00;10;43;08 - 00;11;18;18
Unknown
Peter even denied him three times. And then notice what the Bible says, verse 36 to 38, while they were telling these things, he himself, you ought to underline that in your Bible, he himself. It's a it's a way that the the writer of the New Testament, Luke, here emphasizes the fact that this is Jesus in the flesh. He himself stood in their midst and said to them, peace be to you.
00;11;18;21 - 00;12;01;12
Unknown
But they were startled and frightened and thought that they were seeing a spirit, a ghost. And he said to them, why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your heart? Now why were they frightened and troubled? Well, they were locked away in the upper room because they were expecting at any moment that the Jewish authorities, the temple police, would break into their their little upper room and arrest every one of them and traipse them off to be brutally scourged and crucified, just like their Lord.
00;12;01;14 - 00;12;40;07
Unknown
They were afraid. They were frightened, and Jesus appeared to them. So why are you so scared? Why do you doubt? Arise in your heart. That's when Jesus gave them physical proof of his bodily resurrection. The Bible says in verses 39 to 40. See my hand. This is Jesus speaking to them. See my hands and my feet. Now why did Jesus say, see my hands and my feet?
00;12;40;09 - 00;13;20;18
Unknown
Well, he had been crucified. The marks of the nails were still in his body. Now, obviously we don't know exactly what appearance it was. I don't know, it was scars. I don't know if it was holes. I don't know what it was. But Jesus showed them his hands and his feet because both his hands and feet were fastened to the cruel, rugged cross of Calvary by the nails that the Romans drove through those parts of his body.
00;13;20;21 - 00;13;51;11
Unknown
See my hands and my feet, that is I myself. Another way of emphasizing the Greek language, emphasizing the fact that this was the resurrected Christ. He was in his body, but now it was a glorified body. He said, touch me and see. You want to know if I'm real? You want to know that I'm not a ghost? Touch me and see.
00;13;51;13 - 00;14;18;14
Unknown
For a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see that I have. There was one other time, but the disciples saw Jesus and thought it was a ghost. It's when they were on the Sea of Galilee, and they were in danger of being engulfed by the Sea of Galilee and drowning. And Jesus came to them, walking on the Sea of Galilee.
00;14;18;16 - 00;14;48;07
Unknown
And what did they think? They thought it was a ghost. Well, he wasn't a ghost then. I tell you that. And his resurrection. He was not a ghost either. It was Jesus in the flesh. You say, why is that so important? Well, I tell you, it's important doctrinally, because the bodily resurrection of Christ is a key to the faith that has been handed down to us.
00;14;48;10 - 00;15;38;25
Unknown
It wasn't long after Jesus had to send it back to heaven, that there was a group of heretics who believed that this was a spiritual resurrection, not a bodily resurrection. So he showed them his hands and his feet. Jesus could be seen. Jesus could talk. Jesus could be touched. Jesus could appear and disappear. Just like that. By the way, do you understand that one day, if you're a born again believer, if you have repented of your sin and you placed your faith in Jesus as your Savior and your Lord one day you will receive your own resurrected body.
00;15;38;26 - 00;16;08;07
Unknown
Your body will be glorified, and you will spend all of eternity in your body, glorified with Jesus. I've had people say to me, pastor, will we know each other in heaven? Absolutely. We'll know each other in heaven because it'll be our body glorified. Just like those disciples recognize that it was Jesus. We will recognize each other in heaven.
00;16;08;10 - 00;16;40;17
Unknown
Now, in Philippians chapter three, verses 20 and 21, the Bible speaks to this reality that one day we will have resurrected bodies. I'm not sure sure what all that means, but I've heard riders say that we will travel at the speed of thought. The speed of thought. We'll be here and we'll say, I think I want to go to Saturn and boom, we're inside at Saturn.
00;16;40;19 - 00;17;18;03
Unknown
I don't know that for sure, but I can tell you our glorified body will have more power than any body we've ever experienced on this earth. Philippians 320 and 21. The Bible says, for our citizenship is in heaven. Are you a believer? Hey, you say, well, I'm a citizen of the United States of America. I'll tell you, there's a citizenship that trumps your citizenship of the United States of America, and it's your citizenship in heaven to be with Jesus forever and ever, to be enrolled in the Lamb's Book of Life.
00;17;18;06 - 00;17;39;09
Unknown
I'll tell you what. You won't be a citizen of heaven forever, but you'll be a citizen of heaven. I mean, you won't be a citizen of America forever, but you'll be a citizen of heaven forever and ever and ever. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior. Didn't you love that song we sang?
00;17;39;11 - 00;18;04;00
Unknown
I can't wait for Jesus to come. Let me ask you. Are you eagerly waiting for Jesus to come? When you got up this morning? I know it's Mother's Day, but did you anticipate or even think for a moment that this could be the day that Jesus could come?
00;18;04;03 - 00;18;14;26
Unknown
He could. Not tell you it wouldn't ruin your Mother's Day because you would be with Jesus. Amen.
00;18;14;29 - 00;18;42;17
Unknown
For which we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will notice it, who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of his glory. You will have a body like the Lord Jesus. By the exertion of the power that he has, even to subject all things to himself. All of that awaits you as a believer in Christ.
00;18;42;20 - 00;19;12;00
Unknown
Now the disciples had isolated themselves in that upper room, and by now they were overwhelmed by what had happened, by the fact that the resurrected Christ just appeared in the mirror. He didn't come through a door. He didn't climb. So when he just appeared in the upper room, you say, pastor, I don't believe that. Well, that's what the Bible says.
00;19;12;03 - 00;19;42;06
Unknown
The Bible says that he appeared in the upper room. Are these guys that were once filled with mortal fear, were now just totally overwhelmed? In Luke 24, verses 41 to 43, the Bible says, while they could could not believe it, they couldn't believe it because of their joy and amazement. He said to them, have you anything here to eat?
00;19;42;08 - 00;20;10;11
Unknown
And they gave him a piece of broad fish. I don't know, it's cropping catfish, tilapia. I don't know what kind of fish it was, but they had some broiled fish there in the upper room, and they gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it. And you know what he did? He ate the fish. The resurrected Christ.
00;20;10;13 - 00;20;31;05
Unknown
You say, why it. He was just adding another layer of certainty and conviction in the hearts of those disciples, that his resurrection was not a spiritual resurrection. It was a bodily, physical resurrection.
00;20;31;07 - 00;20;38;13
Unknown
And they couldn't believe it. For them, it was too good to be true.
00;20;38;16 - 00;21;13;03
Unknown
Jesus had conquered death. He had conquered the devil to ensure that the disciples locked in to this truth. He ate some food. And ghost don't eat food. And after providing physical proof of his resurrection, he then provided biblical truth of his resurrection. Notice the verses 44 to 47. Now he said to them, these are my words which I spoke to you.
00;21;13;05 - 00;21;40;17
Unknown
You know what Jesus was saying here. Now, not not in a sarcastic way, not in a condescending way. But he's saying, I told you so. I told you not one time, not two time, but numerous times. Jesus told them exactly what would happen to him when he came to Jerusalem.
00;21;40;19 - 00;22;08;11
Unknown
So he said to them, these are my words which I spoke to you while I was still with you. That all things which are written about me in the law and prophets and law, Moses and the prophets and the Psalms, must be fulfilled now. Understand when Jesus talked about the the law of Moses, the prophets in the Psalms, he was talking about the entire Old Testament from Genesis to Malachi.
00;22;08;13 - 00;22;46;10
Unknown
Jesus began to teach them how the Old Testament prophecies applied to his death, burial, and resurrection. Verse 45. This is so important. Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures. Do you know why so many people have come to church? Leave saying, man, I didn't understand a thing. He said. Now sometimes that could be my my problem because I didn't explain it well enough.
00;22;46;13 - 00;23;15;10
Unknown
But many times it's not because of my inefficiency. It's because your mind has been locked out from the truth of God's Word only. Listen, only the Holy Spirit of God can take spiritual truth and help us to understand it. Only he can do that. So Jesus opened their minds to understand the Scripture. Let me ask you a question.
00;23;15;10 - 00;23;36;26
Unknown
Do you have an open mind today? Are you open to whatever Jesus wants to explain to you today through His Spirit and through the word? I hope and pray you are. I hope and pray you never get to the point in your life where you say the things of God. The things of God's Word are not important to me.
00;23;36;27 - 00;24;11;15
Unknown
I've got better things to do with my time. Oh, I hope and pray you're ready to receive what the Lord has for you today. Hey, look, I cannot convince you of anything, but I can do this. I can preach to you and teach you the Word of God and the Holy Spirit of God can open your mind to understand it and apply it to your life, and give you the chance to respond the way God wants you to respond.
00;24;11;17 - 00;24;58;17
Unknown
Verse 46 he said to them, thus it is written that the Christ, the word Christ, means Messiah. It's not a a personal name. It's a title. The Messiah, Christ the Messiah, would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day. Why? Why would God allow the Messiah, His Son, to suffer and die on a rugged cross and then raise him up on the third day, while we find the answer here in verse 47, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
00;24;58;17 - 00;25;43;12
Unknown
You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I'm sending forth the promise of my father upon you. That's the Holy Spirit. But you were to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high. So Jesus instructed his disciples on the necessity of biblical truth and spiritual enlightenment. I do pray that the Lord will open your heart today and help you to understand with absolute certainty that Jesus is the ultimate peacemaker.
00;25;43;14 - 00;26;11;24
Unknown
He instructed them concerning the significance of his atoning sacrifice on the cross, and his bodily resurrection from the dead. Now understand this if you want to go to heaven, if you really want to go to heaven and spend eternity with God, you need to understand that you're not going to get there on your own merit. You can't work your way there.
00;26;11;24 - 00;26;36;27
Unknown
You can't do enough good things to warrant you going to heaven on your own merit. You need to understand there's only one person in all of creation who can get you to heaven. It's not your mama. It's not your daddy. It's not your pastor. It is. It's not the Pope. It is the Lord Jesus Christ alone who can get you to heaven.
00;26;36;29 - 00;27;05;20
Unknown
You need to understand that Jesus said, I'm the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father but through me. And I hope today that the Holy Spirit will help you to understand the significance of the death of the Son of God on the cross, as he paid the penalty for your sin, and he was raised from the dead three days later for your justification before a holy and righteous God.
00;27;05;23 - 00;27;36;02
Unknown
So Jesus instructed them concerning the significance of his atoning sacrifice on the cross of Calvary and his resurrection. But the Jesus also told them that helped was on the way. Help was on the way. The last part here. The Bible says, I am sending forth the promise of my father upon you, but you were to save the city into your clothed with power from on high.
00;27;36;03 - 00;28;10;08
Unknown
Jesus gave them an amazing challenge. He said to these, these common man, a bunch of fishermen, tax collectors, radicals. He told them, I want you to take this gospel, and I want you to carry it to every nation in the world. Can you imagine what they must have thought? But Jesus also told them, I don't want you to do it in your power.
00;28;10;10 - 00;28;41;25
Unknown
I don't want you to depend upon your own ability. And Jesus promised them that he was sending power from on high. The Holy Spirit of God to feel them, to anoint them, and to empower them to take this gospel to every nation in the world. And the Holy Spirit came to these disciples on the day of Pentecost. A few days later.
00;28;41;27 - 00;29;16;08
Unknown
And they receive the Spirit of God. And Peter stood in priest after he received the help from on high the Holy Spirit and 3000 people were saved. Just like that. My goodness. Okay. But what were the first words that came out of Jesus mouth when he met the disciples in the upper room? Now remember. They missed the obvious.
00;29;16;10 - 00;29;46;07
Unknown
They weren't there when he was arrested. They abandoned him. Let me ask you. Do you think Jesus rebuked them? First words out of his mouth. Do you do you think? Jesus looked at them and said, really? Sometimes I think that's the way we our picture of God. I think we have this picture of God that he's up in heaven.
00;29;46;07 - 00;30;17;24
Unknown
His arms are folded and he's looking at us. He said, I can't believe you. If that's your picture of God, you need a new picture. Let me give you a new picture. You ready for a new picture? Here's the first words that came out of the mouth of Jesus when he encountered his disciples. Peace be to you. Peace.
00;30;17;26 - 00;30;58;27
Unknown
Wholeness. Fulfillment. Joy. Peace be to you. Oh my goodness. Do you see why I'm seeking to place this truth and this picture of Christ in your and your heart, in your mind. Jesus is the ultimate peacemaker. Now, let me say this. You know, peace. No Jesus, no peace. That's no, no, no. Jesus. No peace. You know. But here's another one.
00;30;59;00 - 00;31;29;13
Unknown
No Jesus. No peace. You know no Jesus. You know that peace. I tell you, Jesus is the key to peace. Listen, you, you you can go all over this world. You can try to find chemical peace by smoking a joint by by taking drugs, by, by all kinds of ways. And I'll tell you that chemical peace will not do for you what the resurrected Christ can do for you.
00;31;29;15 - 00;31;55;20
Unknown
You can try to find, a career peace. And you climb the ladder, you're at the top of a ladder, and you feel like if you get to the top of the ladder, everything's going to be perfect for you. I tell you, there's a lot of people who got to the top of the ladder and committed suicide. Now, I won't do it for you, but Jesus offers you legitimate peace.
00;31;55;22 - 00;32;26;03
Unknown
I'm going to ask you three questions as we close today. Three questions. Question number one are you at peace with God? You see, sometimes I think we have this this bogus notion that we're born good and we turn bad. Can I correct that for you? Do I have your permission to do that today? Say amen. All right.
00;32;26;05 - 00;32;50;07
Unknown
Here's the truth. You're born bad, and only Jesus can make it good. David, say that. And I think it's Psalm 51 that he was born in sin. Now we're not born good and turn bad. Let me tell you this. We are sinners by nature and by choice. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
00;32;50;08 - 00;32;54;05
Unknown
The Bible said.
00;32;54;07 - 00;33;26;24
Unknown
But we can have peace with God only through the ultimate peacemaker, the Lord Jesus Christ. In Romans chapter five, verse one, very important verses Scripture Paul wrote, therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. It doesn't say we have peace with God through our religion. It doesn't say we have peace with God through our good works.
00;33;26;27 - 00;34;01;19
Unknown
It says we have peace with God only through the Lord Jesus Christ. And in Romans chapter five verse eight, the Bible says, But God demonstrates his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners. For the the greatest words in the Bible, Christ died for us. He went to the cross. God the father took all of your guilt of all of your sin, and placed it upon the broad shoulders of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
00;34;01;22 - 00;34;38;11
Unknown
And Jesus offered his body and blood as payment to a holy and righteous God, so that your sins could be forgiven. So I ask you. Are you right with God? If not, you can get right with God today. See, I'm praying that the Holy Spirit has opened your mind and your heart to receive what I'm just share with you that the gospel is for you, that God will forgive you.
00;34;38;13 - 00;35;05;10
Unknown
That God will transform your life. That he will give you the gift of all gifts. The gift of eternal life. That you can know God. And you won't have the wrong picture of God. In just a few moments. Our worship team will come, our staff will come, and we're going to stand, and we're going to worship the Lord.
00;35;05;12 - 00;35;37;09
Unknown
And the minute that first no, the music plays. If you're here today and you say, pastor, I don't have peace with God. And you come down this aisle and you find a staff member and you tell them that you are absolutely longing for peace with God. And we'll help you to understand how you can have that today. Here's a second question.
00;35;37;12 - 00;36;12;03
Unknown
Not only are you at peace with God, but are you at peace with yourself? Why is it that so many Christians who have peace with God never get to the place of having the peace of God in their lives? Why? Why are so many Christians hampered and and enslaved to anxiety, to loneliness, to anger, to fear? Why is that?
00;36;12;06 - 00;36;41;08
Unknown
When Jesus, the ultimate peace maker, has made his peace available to us as believers? Why don't we appropriate it? Remember his promise. My peace I give to you. Not as a world give, do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled or let it be fearful that peace is for you as a believer. In Philippians chapter four, verses six and seven.
00;36;41;11 - 00;37;07;05

Paul wrote, be anxious for nothing, but in everything. Underline the word in everything, but in everything, with prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. Let your requests be made known to God. Now listen to it. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Jesus said, listen, you don't have to be afraid.

You don't have to be full of anger. You don't have to be full of bitterness. You don't have to be full of anxiety. I'm making something available to you that will counteract and counterbalance all of that junk. My peace.

But you got to receive it by faith. So in just a moment, when we stand to worship, you're born again believer in this room. And you say, pastor, I have peace. The peace with God, but I don't have the peace of God. Then I want you to do this. I want you to drag your anxiety. I want you to drag your anger, your fear, your loneliness.

I want you to drag it to the altar. And I want you to plant your knees here by this altar and turn to heaven and say to Jesus, seated on the throne in heaven. Lord Jesus, give me your peace. That's a it's a prayer. He will answer. I got one more question. Do you have peace with God?

Are you at peace with yourself? Third question do you have peace in your family? Do you? There was a film in 1995 entitled While You Were Sleeping. I didn't see it, but I read about this this segment of that film and I wanted to share it with you today while you were sleeping. It offers a window into the life of a family search for peace with one another.

In one scene in that movie, the dad asks Callahan, that's a name and that's a manly name right there, ox. Callahan talks with one of his sons about taking over the family business. Jack, the older of the two sons, has his own dreams and his own goals in life. But his dreams and goals do not include taking over his father's business.

So ox reflects briefly, saying, I quote. This is the dad. You work hard, you try to provide for the family. And then for one minute everything's good. Everything's well, everyone's well, everyone's happy. And that one minute you have peace. And Jack replied, the son replied to him, pop. This isn't that minute. Life, love. Expectations. Dreams. Family. Relationships are hard in our fallen world.

They're hard. Don't kid yourself. They're hard. And these challenges often create conflict, division, hurt, sadness and brokenness. But I don't want you to forget something. If you're here today, you say, pastor, I don't have peace in my family. I don't want you to forget this. Jesus is the ultimate peacemaker. Jesus can take the brokenness in your family and bring healing.

And color and Psalm 34 verse 14, the Bible says, depart from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it. Now, if you're in a family and everything's not hunky dory in your family, I want you to. I want you to to seek peace and pursue it. Pursue it. Colossians 315. The Bible says, let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you recall in one body.

And be thankful. Let the peace of Christ rule in your heart. And then Romans 1218 I love this one. If possible, so far as it depends on you. Mom, dad, teenager, child. Grandparent. Grandchildren. Be at peace with all men. Be at peace with each other. What does that mean? Well, it means you forgive each other when you get hurt.
00;42;00;09 - 00;42;33;14

There's some forgiveness it needs to go on. And families here in this room today. Forgiveness. It means you love each other unconditionally. Just the way Jesus loved you. It means that you tamp down any anger that seeks to rise up in your heart and your life. It means that you encourage one another with your word. You don't discourage which one, and you don't cut each other to pieces with your words.
00;42;33;16 - 00;42;58;06

That's how you can have peace in your family. That's pursuing peace. But listen, it all begins. With having peace with God. And having the peace of God that's real in your heart. And it flows into your family dynamic.

You say, well, I've got the peace with God, but I don't have the peace of God.

Then you bring your situation to this altar. You bow your knee before the Lord and you ask him to give you peace. His peace. And then if in your family things are not going so hot. Come to the altar. Hey, I'm not saying that things can clear up just like that. I'm not making any promises to you. But I'll tell you this.
